RE: Tambour followup

I thank you all for advice and recommendations re: the unusual construction
of this tambour.
Due to the so so condition of the veneer we have decided to replace the canvas.
I have already removed the old canvas and have the new glued in place. It will be
dry tomorrow and I will cut veneer strips and glue to the cloth as the original was
constructed. I am going to use 2 ply veneer as I think it will be easier to position
the strips and will look better. (hope I am right)
I will be using a flexible glue so I will not have problems as the tambour bends
around the track. I did think about the contact cement but I hate this stuff and
think the flexible glue will be the best adhesive. I have been using it for years
and have not had any problems. It develops a fast tack but slow cure so I can
position all veneer strips in one operation. I will hold in place with veneer tape
and when all are positioned will cover with wax paper and large cull. Will slip
the whole thing in the bag (vacuum press) and it will be just fine. So far I have
less than 1 hour on the project and think I can finish it up in about another hour.
