Jim,

IMHO the screen would be approx. 25-30 yrs old. I would suggest it was 
produced in Hong Kong.  The splitting occured because the wood was not 
kiln dried.  If the piece was older, the painting detail of the porcelain would 
be better.    

If I recall correctly, the new retail price in Houston TX was approx. $800.
