Re: Steve Austin's comments on various strippers:

Here in Tennessee we also have tried many different kinds of strippers
over the last ten years. We currently use Benco and are very pleased
with the results. Kwick Kleen has some good products but their stripper
is not one of them... way too much ammonia in stripper -- it will drive you
out of your shop.

My reason for writing is that we are trying to keep up with wholesale price
increases. Used to buy 5 gallons in lightweight plastic containers for $32,
but now it is $47 to $52 for 5 gallons. We order 11 five gallon containers
twice a month. 55 gal. drums are too, too heavy to cope with.

Benco picks up emptys and sludge in buckets. In a pinch we strain or run
old stripper through screen door screen and use it again till it quits.

At this point we are almost agreed to not accept painted pieces to strip
unless customer wants to pay much higher price. We rinse everything in
oxlic acid bath after we pressure wash item.

Please let me know what you think of Benco stripper --
your years and experience will be valuable.

Thanks in advance.

Steve,

Your thoughts were quite eloquent except when you dippped rather low and
ridiculed a small company like minuteman. I use minuteman's system,
although I do use other strippers. My experience with minuteman has been
excellent. They are rather steep, but the technical support I received during
my first year of operation was grand. I still call them with questions when
needed.

In defense of their company and their stripper, their bright strip is the best
I have ever used. I have used three 55 gallon drums of it and still have not
discovered anyone elses that stripped as effectively as the Bright strip.
I have seen it take off some of the tough cat finishes in one sheet with no
more than five minutes of soaking. Good stuff.

Price was my breaking point I agree, I now go with Benco B7 stripper.
They call me!!! on a weekly basis and tell me when the truck will be here,
they got my business.

Anyway, be fair to Minuteman, they are based on selling the whole
system and servicing the individuals who purchase their complete
systems. They are the reason I have a successful business right now
( er besides the Groop, 0f course,) They have their faults but are still a
fine business with some great people.

Just an aside, you should look into getting a 4 x 4 heated tank for the
MC stripper, you would love it, I stripped a ton of furniture today, 5
hours of stripping (4 dressers, 2 wardrobes, 3 night stands, 6 chairs ,
2 dining tables, 4 wash stands) and only lost a couple of gallons via
evaporation.

for now,
Stripped out,
