HI Roger -
Don't worry about the serial number of the piano..... it wouldn't help
you find a caster replacement.
I would call Schaff Piano Supply @ 1-800-747-4266 and ask them if you can
fax them your business card or letterhead so that you may place an order
(they are wholesale only).
In replacing casters, there are several dimensions to consider:
1. wheel diameter, so as to keep the level the same
2. wheel face (width, or thickness)
3. stem size (diameter of stem)
Casters are sold in sets of 3 (grands) or 4 (verticals), but if you ask,
Schaff will let you buy as many as you require. I suggest buying two, so
that the front two match up. Decide whether you want solid brass, or
brass-plated steel, and make sure of the stem diameter. Almost all
spinet casters have a much thinner stem than larger uprights and grands,
but there are a few exceptions. Best to pull the one you have and
measure before ordering.
I think you will find Schaff to be very friendly and helpful. If you are
having problems, let me know.

What is the diameter of the wheel and the shaft of its housing.
You can likely get one from American Piano supply, or Schaff Piano supply.
If you can tell me more specific dimentions, I can tell the part number.
You will likely be better off replacing both casters so they will match.
American Piano can be reached at 1800 457-4266
or www.americanpiano.com.
I don't have Schaff's number in front of me, but I know they have
a web site, likely schaffpiano.com.
We'll find you a caster,

Roger,
Generally speaking, there is nothing particularly special about piano casters.
The piano pictured should have a serial number on the plate inside the piano
(usually 5 or 6 digits) that you can use to reference the date.
Model will probably be determined by height. If you need ferrals(sp) and
casters, your best bet would probably be American Piano Supply,
818-366-3761. Your second choice would be Schaff Piano Supply,
800-747-4266. Either should be able to help you out. Good luck.

Roger-
Rockler has a small selection of similar casters. I don't know
if they have the size you need, but check out www.rockler.com
