Frequently

Asked

Questions

What do you mean by "moderated" Group?

This Group is "moderated" to keep it pure and to prevent it
from wasting your time with inappropriate email.
"Moderated" means that each email contribution
is reviewed for appropriateness before it is
distributed to the Groop as "GroopMail".

This is not censorship.

The Moderator does not decide if a
question or statement is appropriate,
he simply ensures only subject related emails
show up in everybody's mailbox.

Who will see my email address on the list?

Email addresses are not included in GroopMail.
The Moderator will not divulge any address
on the list, so don't ask.
The mailing list is a "blind list": the list of
addresses does not appear in the header information
of any email exchanged through the Groop.
The mailing list will not be used for any purpose
other than this Groop exchange.

How may I contact other members?

If you wish to privately contact another member, you
may find their information in the PRG Member Directory.

Alternately, if you wish to email another member, you may
send an email to moderator@alan.net, which will be forwarded
to that member.  If that member wishes to converse with you, he
or she will return your email and the two of you are on your own.

How much email will I receive?

The volume of email you may receive from the Groop is as
unpredictable as the number of questions, responses or
statements you may have for the Groop.
You might have two questions that need answers today
-- and then not another for three months.
You might delete all of your GroopMail unopened
-- or you might read questions that you WANT to answer.

The volume of GroopMail is driven
by the Groop's desire to communicate.

How much will this cost me?

We wish Groop was free ... but nothing in life is.

Beginning in March 2004, the cost of participating
in the Groop is $100 per 12 month subscription.

HOWEVER...

New Members get a 1 month trial period
... FOR FREE ...

That gives you plenty of participation time to determine
whether or not Groop holds that much value for you.
A word of CAUTION:  Groop is addicting.  Once you
discover how much you learn here, you'll be hooked.

Who is in Groop ?

As of March 2004, Groop has nearly 200 Members.

Our Membership, sorted by State, can be seen
here.

Why do you want biographical information about me?

This is a select Group of real people.
We are not just keyboards and monitor-screens.
The better we know each other,
the better we understand each other's contributions.
It is your option what biographical information you share
-- and you can edit that information at any time.

What if I don't fit your definition
of a "Professional Refinisher"?

Well, who really does, anyway?
If we all wore the same hat, life would be dull.
The point is, we're looking for
dedicated knowledge and experience.

If you feel you have something to offer,
we encourage your participation.

If you wanna join us, please do!

Will I be inundated with "sales" emails
from suppliers and manufacturers?

NO!

Certainly the supply-side industries have
a wealth of information that benefit the Groop.
And we encourage people from all industries
and backgrounds to share with the Groop.

This is the well of refinishing knowledge
--and the deeper the better.
